The 11th AZKA Corner was established in collaboration with Etiqa Takaful and Akademi Zakat (AZKA-PPZ) on 1st March 2023. It was established at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Library (PSNZ), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT). OBJECTIVES: Provide a comfortable and specific reading corner related to Zakat, Waqf, Islamic Finance and Islamic Social Finance. Apply awareness of the importance of Zakat, especially to students. Provide a conducive space for students to acquire relevant Islamic finance knowledge through the latest reading material. IMPACT The impact of this joint venture is to bring Etiqa Takaful and AZKA-PPZ closer together with the community, in addition to spreading Islamic financial preaching among students and academics and bringing related books so that they are easily accessible to the students and academics. CONTINUOUS EFFORT This effort is not a one-off effort, but rather the latest publications related to Zakat and waqf, especially those published by AZKA-PPZ itself, will donate at least twice a year regularly to PSNZ UMT, to be placed in the AZKA Corner space.

AZKA Research Interview Session with researchers from Universiti Sains IslamMalaysia (USIM). The project title is “Takaful Mikro Berasaskan Wakaf Bertempoh: Prospek, Cabaran dan Kerangka Kerja Solusi”. The study aims to get the point of view of Pusat Pungutan Zakat-MAIWP as an administrator and manager of regional waqf property Federation. This study is currently entering a field study that requires input from various parties, especially from the zakat institution. We hope that the outcome from the interview session will help researcher to be successful with their research.

Datin Seri Utama Nafesah Raja Nong Chik, Director of RASMA Corporation, invited PPZ-MAIWP to brief their staff on zakat on January 30, 2023. Furthermore, Mr Muhamad Hazrin Sayuti from AZKA presented on estate management, and Mr Muhammad Izuddin Md Rosnan from the Unit Dakwah Perniagaan (UDP) presented on business zakat calculation.

The Celik Kewangan Webinar Series with Raudhah College, Cyberjaya was held on December 22, 2022.  Mr. Muhamad Hazrin Sayuti, the Executive of AZKA-PPZ, was invited to participate in a panel discussion on the topic of ‘Hibah Pusaka’: Alternatif Penyelesaian Harta Beku. Ustaz Hakimi Mat Salim (Islamic Estate Advisor of Palladium Trustee Berhad) are the other panelists in addition to AZKA-PPZ. At the end of the discussion, we believed hibah is one of the Muamalat Contract and as a part of Islamic Law. This webinar is done for highlight grant knowledge as one instruments that need to be implemented as an alternative to ensure the management and planning of Muslim estate can be implemented as best as possible. 

AZKA had the opportunity to participate in “10th ASEAN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ISLAMIC FINANCE (AICIF 2022)” organized by the International Islamic University Malaysia and IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking & Finance (IIiBF) in collaboration with AZKA as a bronze sponsored. The focus area of the conference is “The Role of Islamic Banking and Islamic Finance for Economic Sustainability”. The program conducted through hybrid method. This 3 days conference covered ranging from Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) and Islamic Finance, Takaful and Re-takaful, Islamic Economics for Sustainable Development, Islamic Banking, Islamic Social Finance and Crises, Fintech, Digitalization and Islamic Finance, Zakat, Waqf and Sadaqah, Islamic Wealth Management, Islamic Finance Literacy and Maqasid al-Shariah and Islamic Finance.

On November 23rd, 2022, AZKA marked another significant milestone to its extraordinary journey today with the establishment of the 8th AZKA Corner. The Grand Opening Ceremony of the departments was held on this day from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm at Pejabat Mufti Wilayah Persekutuan. This prestigious occasion was honored by the presence of the Sahibus Samahah Datuk Prof. Madya Dr. Luqman bin Haji Abdullah and General Manager Information Communication Technology PPZ-MAIWP, Haji Norman bin Yahya. The 8th AZKA Corner has started operating in March 2022.

ICAB2022 is the 1st International Colloquium on Accounting and Business, which is organized by the Faculty of Accountancy, UiTM Perak Branch, Tapah Campus in collaboration with the Accounting Research Institute (ARI), Universitas Paramadina, Universitas Indonesia, Kolej Universiti Poly-Tech Mara (KUPTM) andInstitute Agama Islam Negeri Iain Lhokseumawe. This colloquium is held on 8-9 November 2022 with thetheme ‘Accounting and Business Resilience in a Post-Pandemic Economy’. It is open to those who are interested in learning new knowledge as well as to those who want to share their own practices. The objective of ICAB2022 is to provide a platform for academics, professionals, researchers and scholars from Malaysia and abroad to interact and share knowledge, experience and expertise in the fields of accounting, finance, economics and business management. AZKA Manager had a chance to participate in this ICAB 2022 as key note speaker during 1st day of session. The title presentation is Coherence of Post Pandemic Zakat Collection, Distribution and Business Sustainability: The Federal Territory’s Experience.
