AZKA Corner Digital @ UPTM

13 Februari 2025, Khamis – AZKA CORNER DIGITAL PERTAMA KINI DI UPTM Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) menjadi Institusi Pendidikan Tinggi (IPT) pertama di Malaysia yang dilengkapi kemudahan AZKA Corner Digital. Ini selepas ruangan sedia ada dinaiktaraf daripada penggunaan bahan bacaan zakat dan wakaf dalam bentuk fizikal kepada digital dengan penggunaan dua komputer sumbangan PPZ-MAIWP. Antara kandungan yang dapat diakses termasuk buku-buku, laporan kajian, jurnal rujukan berkaitan zakat dan wakaf hasil terbitan Akademi Zakat (AZKA) PPZ-MAIWP dan penerbit lain bagi kemudahan pelajar dan pensyarah. Majlis perasmian disempurnakan oleh Naib Canselor UPTM, Prof Madya Dr Sharifah Syahirah Sy Sheikh dan Penolong Pengurus Besar Penyelidikan dan Pembangunan PPZ-MAIWP, Hj Khairulazhar Samsudin. AZKA Corner UPTM telah tersedia sejak perasmiannya pada tahun 2023 dan telah dinaiktaraf selepas genap dua tahun menjadi sumber rujukan pelajar dan pensyarah. Terima kasih kepada UPTM atas komitmen dalam menyokong usaha dakwah zakat, semoga AZKA Corner Digital ini menjadi sumber ilmu bermanfaat seterusnya memberi inspirasi buat warganya untuk terus bersama PPZ-MAIWP memperkasa zakat dan wakaf.

Round Table Discussion: Kajian Pembinaan Matlamat Pembangunan Zakat (ZDGs)

8 Februari 2025, Sabtu – Kajian pembinaan Matlamat Pembangunan Zakat (ZDGs); memenuhi keperluan kerangka pelaksanaan zakat yang mantap. Alhamdulillah, satu sesi perbincangan ilmiah telah berjaya diadakan, menghimpunkan pakar dalam bidang pengurusan zakat, ekonomi Islam, serta pembuat dasar bagi membangunkan kerangka Zakat Development Goals (ZDGs) yang sistematik dan berpandukan prinsip Islam. Perbincangan ini dipimpin oleh barisan penyelidik berpengalaman seperti Prof. Emeritus Dr. Muhammad Syukri Salleh, Dr. Wan Norhaniza Wan Hasan, dan Dr. Shereeza Mohamed Saniff, yang meneliti serta mengintegrasikan pandangan ilmiah daripada pelbagai pihak. Antara aspek utama yang dibincangkan termasuk keperluan mewujudkan kerangka pelaksanaan zakat yang kukuh, dengan matlamat yang jelas serta struktur dan disiplin yang tersusun bagi memperkasakan sistem zakat. Pelbagai idea bernas turut dikongsi, merangkumi strategi bagi memperkukuh pengurusan dan pembangunan zakat agar lebih berkesan dan mampan. Perbincangan ini turut disertai oleh wakil Majlis Agama Islam Negeri-negeri (MAIN), agensi mengurus zakat (AMZ), badan korporat, pihak bank, ahli akademik, serta wakil World Zakat Waqf Forum, yang bersama-sama menyumbang pandangan ke arah pemantapan ekosistem zakat. Diharapkan, inisiatif ini dapat mengangkat agenda zakat ke tahap yang lebih tinggi, sekaligus memberi impak besar dalam memperkasakan sistem zakat di Malaysia dan di peringkat antarabangsa. Round Table Discussion – Zakat Development Goals (ZDGs) ini merupakan anjuran Pusat Pungutan Zakat Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (PPZ-MAIWP) menerusi Akademi Zakat (AZKA) dengan kerjasama Pusat Kajian Pengurusan Pembangunan Islam (ISDEV), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).   8th February 2025, Saturday – Research on the development of Zakat Development Goals (ZDGs); meet the requirements of a robust zakat implementation framework. Alhamdulillah, a scientific discussion session was successfully held, bringing together experts in the field of zakat management, Islamic economics, as well as policy makers to develop a systematic framework of Zakat Development Goals (ZDGs) guided by Islamic principles. This discussion is led by a line of experienced researchers such as Prof. Emeritus Dr. Muhammad Syukri Salleh, Dr. Wan Norhaniza Wan Hasan, and Dr. Shereeza Mohamed Saniff, who examines and integrates scientific views from various parties. Among the main aspects that were discussed included the need to create a strong zakat implementation framework, with clear goals and structured structure and discipline to empower the zakat system. Various brilliant ideas were also shared, including strategies to strengthen the management and development of zakat to be more effective and sustainable. This discussion was also attended by representatives of the State Islamic Religious Council (MAIN), zakat managing agency (AMZ), corporate bodies, banks, academics, as well as representatives of the World Zakat Waqf Forum, who together contributed views towards strengthening the zakat ecosystem. It is hoped that this initiative can raise the zakat agenda to a higher level, at the same time making a big impact in empowering the zakat system in Malaysia and internationally. It was established at the UniKL Library (Tunku Azizah Knowlegde Centre), UniKL, Kuala Lumpur IMPACT The impact of this project is to bring OCBC Al-Amin Bank and AZKA-PPZ closer together with the community, in addition to spreading Islamic Finance among students and academics and bringing related books so that they are easily accessible to the students and scholars. CONTINUOUS EFFORT This effort is not a one-off effort, but rather the latest publications related to Zakat and Waqf, especially those published by AZKA-PPZ itself, will donate at least twice a year regularly to UniKL Library to be placed in the AZKA Corner space.

This meaningful project was made possible through a strategic collaboration with MBSB Bank — a long-standing partner in the advancement of Islamic social finance. Empowering Students and Scholars Through Islamic Finance AZKA Corner is more than a reading space — it is a purpose-driven hub designed to bring zakat and waqf literacy closer to students, researchers, and the academic community. Through this partnership, MBSB Bank and AZKA-PPZ are working hand-in-hand to bridge the gap between Islamic finance practitioners and future leaders in the field. The AZKA Corner is stocked with curated publications focused on zakat, waqf, Islamic wealth management, and social finance, making it easier for students and scholars to access critical resources in a dedicated and conducive setting. Creating Lasting Impact This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to enriching minds and supporting the ummah through education. By placing the AZKA Corner within one of Malaysia’s leading Islamic universities, the initiative: Encourages deeper engagement with Islamic financial principles Sparks new academic inquiries into zakat and waqf governance Strengthens community awareness around socially responsible financial practices For MBSB Bank, this project serves as an impactful CSR avenue to build meaningful community ties and promote financial literacy rooted in Islamic values. AZJAF IS NOW INDEXED IN MYCITE (MALAYSIA)

Alhamdulillah. The publication of the AZKA International Journal of Zakat and Social Finance (AZJAF), which is an academic journal publication managed by the Zakat Academy (AZKA) under the Zakat Collection Center (PPZ-MAIWP) has been recognized by the MyCITE index by the Citation & Infometrics Center (PSI) of the Ministry of Higher Education ( KPT). This is the first recognition, and the only journal with the theme of ZAKAT and SOCIAL FINANCE that has received such recognition in Malaysia and the world.
