Focus Group Discussion on Social Protection by UNDP, JPM and USM

On June 19th, 2023, Akademi Zakat (AZKA-PPZ) represented by En. Muhsin Nor Paizin, Manager of AZKA-PPZ attending a focus group discussion (FGD) on Social Protection, organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JPM) dan Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) di Mercure Living Putrajaya. For this purpose, UNDP supports the Implementation Coordination Unit, Prime Minister’s Department (ICU JPM) in implementing the Government’s plan to strengthen Malaysia’s social protection policy. In line with the Plan Twelfth Malaysia (RMK12, Strategy A5), this project aims to improve effectiveness, efficiency and targets social protection system.

AZKA-PPZ Discussion with UPTM Researchers Regarding Impact Assessment Study on The Effectiveness of The Ishraf Entrepreneurship Program

On June 8th, 2023, Akademi Zakat (AZKA-PPZ) receive a visit from UPTM Researchers regarding The ISHRAF SME Bank Group Program is an initiative implemented by the Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia (SME Bank) to provide financial assistance and support to Asnaf entrepreneurs in Malaysia. Asnaf refers to individuals or families who are eligible to receive assistance under Islamic law, such as the poor, orphans, and widows. The program aims to uplift the economic status of Asnaf entrepreneurs by providing them with access to capital and training to improve their business skills. The program involves collaborating with selected corporate agencies or entities to identify potential Asnaf entrepreneurs based on established criteria. The selected Asnaf entrepreneurs receive funding or capital from the program, along with continuous business advisory and coaching assistance from a training consultant, the Centre for Entrepreneur Development and Research (CEDAR). The program’s primary goal is to enhance the economic well-being of Asnaf entrepreneurs and contribute to the overall development of the SME sector in Malaysia. AZKA-PPZ Visit to Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL)

On June 7th, 2023, Akademi Zakat (AZKA-PPZ) paid a visit to Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) in Jalan Sultan Ismail, 50250 Kuala Lumpur. The basis of the meeting was to discuss potential collaboration in terms of research and publication of zakat books, but AZKA took the opportunity to inform and warn about business zakat payments. InshaAllah, as a result of the planned collaboration discussion, UniKL representatives will refine and propose business zakat payment so that further collaboration can be made smoothly. UniKL is represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adidah Lajis (Deputy Director of Center for Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Naziruddin Abdullah (Dean of UniKL Business School), and Mrs. Pazilah Hamzah (Head Librarian TAKC UniKL). ETIQA-AZKA Corner @ IPG Pulau Pinang

The 12th AZKA Corner was established in collaboration with Etiqa Takaful. It was established at the Perpustakaan Za’ba, Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPG) Kampus Pulau Pinang (IPG Pulau Pinang). This is the 2nd time AZKA Corner has been established in Pulau Pinang. OBJECTIVES: This corner requires to provide a conducive environment for students to generate creative ideas to produce skilled future teachers communicate, think critically and apply teamwork when students serve in public service later. A space that allows students to have discussions, brainstorming, and deliberations informally to get results according to one of the elements in the concept of Design Thinking. A relaxed equipment and facilities and a comfortable environment attract students to conduct group discussions in a relaxed manner while helping the students in honing their skills & talents to ensure student success and quality schools. This corner is also to help students apply PDP concepts and best practices when serving as an educator later. IMPACT The impact of this joint venture is to bring Etiqa Takaful and AZKA-PPZ closer together with the community, in addition to spreading Islamic financial preaching among students and academics and bringing related books so that they are easily accessible to the students and scholars. CONTINUOUS EFFORT This effort is not a one-off effort, but rather the latest publications related to Zakat and waqf, especially those published by AZKA-PPZ itself, will donate at least twice a year regularly to IPG Pulau Pinang, to be placed in the AZKA Corner space.
