The 21th AZKA Corner Launched at UTeM Through Collaboration with OCBC Al-Amin Akademi Zakat (AZKA-PPZ), continues to expand its educational outreach with the establishment of the 21st AZKA Corner, developed in collaboration with OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad. The newly introduced OCBC Al-Amin AZKA–PPZ Knowledge Lounge @ UTeM is located at Perpustakaan Laman Hikmah, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). This initiative marks an important milestone as it becomes the first AZKA Corner established within a technical university, bringing awareness of zakat, waqf and Islamic social finance closer to students in the fields of engineering, technology and innovation. Completed on 7 January 2026, the knowledge lounge will be officially launched on 12 March 2026 by TYT Tun Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam.   A Modern Knowledge Lounge for Students Designed as a vibrant and collaborative learning space, the lounge provides a comfortable environment where students can study, discuss ideas, and explore Islamic social finance concepts. Among the facilities available are: • Custom-designed study pods for focused discussions• Bean bag lounge area for informal learning• Smart digital display for knowledge sharing and presentations• Bookshelves featuring AZKA publications and reading materials• Glass-enclosed discussion room for group collaboration• Recreational space including a carrom area These features transform the space into a dynamic hub that blends knowledge, creativity, and student engagement. Empowering Future Professionals with Social Finance Literacy As a leading technical university specialising in engineering and technology, UTeM provides an ideal platform to introduce Islamic social finance awareness to future innovators and industry leaders. Through this knowledge lounge, students are encouraged to understand the role of zakat and waqf in supporting sustainable community development, while fostering a sense of social responsibility alongside academic excellence.   A Collaboration with Meaningful Impact The project reflects a strong partnership between OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad, UTeM, and AZKA–PPZ, demonstrating how zakat wakalah funds can be channelled into impactful educational initiatives. OCBC Al-Amin AZKA Corner @ Politeknik Nilai

The 20th AZKA Corner Launched at Politeknik Nilai, the First at a Polytechnic Institution PPZ-MAIWP marked a significant milestone with the launch of the 20th AZKA Corner at Politeknik Nilai, making it the first AZKA Corner established at a polytechnic institution. This initiative aims to expand literacy in zakat and Islamic finance within the TVET ecosystem, empowering students with essential knowledge before they enter the professional workforce. The AZKA Corner is a strategic collaboration between PPZ-MAIWP and OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad, designed to cultivate awareness of zakat, waqf, and Islamic social responsibility values among technical and vocational students. The launch ceremony was officiated through a plaque-signing session by the CEO of OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad, Tuan Syed Abdull Aziz Jailani Syed Kechik, and the Deputy Director of Academic Support at Politeknik Nilai, Encik Shuharzi Md Salleh, witnessed by representatives from PPZ-MAIWP. During the same event, a Gerobok Rezeki contribution worth RM35,000 was also channelled through the OCBC Al-Amin Wakalah Fund to assist students in need. The 19th AZKA Corner was established  in collaboration with Zurich General Takaful Malaysia Berhad, has successfully established its latest ZURICH-AZKA Corner, strategically located at the International Islamic College (IIC), Taman Batu Muda, Batu Caves. The newly set-up and fully furnished corner is designed to be a vibrant hub that nurtures Islamic social finance literacy, strengthens academic engagement, and promotes community outreach. This initiative continues AZKA’s mission to transform higher education spaces into accessible platforms for knowledge-sharing on zakat, waqf, and Islamic financial management. A Modern, Engaging Learning Space The ZURICH-AZKA Corner at IIC features a thoughtfully designed environment that includes: Custom-made bookshelves, island counters, and modular storage units Comfortable FRAGOLA sofas, modern lighting, and Nordic carpeting Smart Android TV with live broadcasting capability Green plants, signage, and wall designs reflecting Islamic finance themes This aesthetic and functional transformation demonstrates how zakat-linked corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds can be channelled into impactful infrastructure that not only enriches minds, but also instils enduring values. A Strategic Partnership The collaboration between Zurich Takaful and AZKA-PPZ reflects a shared commitment to empowering students and academic communities with literacy on zakat, waqf, and Islamic finance. The 18th AZKA Corner was established in collaboration with Etiqa Takaful. It was strategically located at the Library Community Engagement (LCE) space of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Johor, Kampus Segamat. The upgraded and fully furnished corner is designed to be a dynamic learning hub that integrates Islamic social finance literacy, academic engagement, and community outreach. This initiative serves as part of AZKA’s broader effort to empower university libraries as accessible platforms for knowledge sharing on zakat, waqf, and Islamic financial management. A Modern, Engaging Learning Space The newly transformed LCE area has undergone a thoughtful redesign, which includes: Smart AV systems for live broadcasting and seminars Comfortable seating, custom-made bookshelves, and improved lighting A professionally installed stage, green-wall backdrop, and interactive signage. The space not only reflects a commitment to design and function, but also symbolises how zakat and corporate social responsibility (CSR) can be channelled into impactful infrastructure that nurtures minds and values. This corner is also part of the university’s Smart LCE transformation — an initiative aimed at modernising learning environments that are flexible, interactive, and community-centred. Official Launch On 18 July 2025, a significant milestone in zakat literacy and academic collaboration was marked with the launch of the AZKA Corner @ UiTM Johor, held at the Tun Dr. Ismail Library, UiTM Johor Segamat Campus. The initiative was made possible through a strategic collaboration between Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad and Pusat Pungutan Zakat – Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (PPZ-MAIWP), specifically through its knowledge arm, Akademi Zakat (AZKA-PPZ). This is the 18th AZKA Corner established in institutions of higher learning across Malaysia — a strong testament to AZKA-PPZ’s commitment in building a nationwide knowledge network that connects students, academics, and communities to the essence of zakat, waqf, and Islamic social finance. This meaningful project was made possible through a strategic collaboration with MBSB Bank — a long-standing partner in the advancement of Islamic social finance. Empowering Students and Scholars Through Islamic Finance AZKA Corner is more than a reading space — it is a purpose-driven hub designed to bring zakat and waqf literacy closer to students, researchers, and the academic community. Through this partnership, MBSB Bank and AZKA-PPZ are working hand-in-hand to bridge the gap between Islamic finance practitioners and future leaders in the field. The AZKA Corner is stocked with curated publications focused on zakat, waqf, Islamic wealth management, and social finance, making it easier for students and scholars to access critical resources in a dedicated and conducive setting. Creating Lasting Impact This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to enriching minds and supporting the ummah through education. By placing the AZKA Corner within one of Malaysia’s leading Islamic universities, the initiative: Encourages deeper engagement with Islamic financial principles Sparks new academic inquiries into zakat and waqf governance Strengthens community awareness around socially responsible financial practices For MBSB Bank, this project serves as an impactful CSR avenue to build meaningful community ties and promote financial literacy rooted in Islamic values. The 12th AZKA Corner was established in collaboration with Etiqa Takaful. It was established at the Perpustakaan Za’ba, Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPG) Kampus Pulau Pinang (IPG Pulau Pinang). This is the 2nd time AZKA Corner has been established in Pulau Pinang. OBJECTIVES: This corner requires to provide a conducive environment for students to generate creative ideas to produce skilled future teachers communicate, think critically and apply teamwork when students serve in public service later. A space that allows students to have discussions, brainstorming, and deliberations informally to get results according to one of the elements in the concept of Design Thinking. A relaxed equipment and facilities and a comfortable environment attract students to conduct group discussions in a relaxed manner while helping the students in honing their skills & talents to ensure student success and quality schools. This corner is also to help students apply PDP concepts and best practices when serving as an educator later. IMPACT The impact of this joint venture is to bring Etiqa Takaful and AZKA-PPZ closer together with the community, in addition to spreading Islamic financial preaching among students and academics and bringing related books so that they are easily accessible to the students and scholars.
