The 18th AZKA Corner was established in collaboration with Etiqa Takaful. It was strategically located at the Library Community Engagement (LCE) space of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Johor, Kampus Segamat.
The upgraded and fully furnished corner is designed to be a dynamic learning hub that integrates Islamic social finance literacy, academic engagement, and community outreach. This initiative serves as part of AZKA’s broader effort to empower university libraries as accessible platforms for knowledge sharing on zakat, waqf, and Islamic financial management.
A Modern, Engaging Learning Space
The newly transformed LCE area has undergone a thoughtful redesign, which includes:
Smart AV systems for live broadcasting and seminars
Comfortable seating, custom-made bookshelves, and improved lighting
A professionally installed stage, green-wall backdrop, and interactive signage.
The space not only reflects a commitment to design and function, but also symbolises how zakat and corporate social responsibility (CSR) can be channelled into impactful infrastructure that nurtures minds and values.
This corner is also part of the university’s Smart LCE transformation — an initiative aimed at modernising learning environments that are flexible, interactive, and community-centred.
Official Launch
On 18 July 2025, a significant milestone in zakat literacy and academic collaboration was marked with the launch of the AZKA Corner @ UiTM Johor, held at the Tun Dr. Ismail Library, UiTM Johor Segamat Campus. The initiative was made possible through a strategic collaboration between Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad and Pusat Pungutan Zakat – Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (PPZ-MAIWP), specifically through its knowledge arm, Akademi Zakat (AZKA-PPZ).
This is the 18th AZKA Corner established in institutions of higher learning across Malaysia — a strong testament to AZKA-PPZ’s commitment in building a nationwide knowledge network that connects students, academics, and communities to the essence of zakat, waqf, and Islamic social finance.
Collaboration That Creates Impact
This project would not have been possible without the generous support of Etiqa Takaful and the dedicated implementation team from UiTM Johor. Under the leadership of project heads including Puan Mawar Noor Abdullah and En. Ahmad Akmal Mohd Idris, the AZKA Corner stands as a testament to successful academic–corporate collaboration driven by shared values and a collective mission for societal betterment.
AZKA remains committed to working with more institutions to develop educational spaces that not only provide information, but also ignite action, dialogue, and long-term change in the field of Islamic social finance.
