Islamic Social Finance through instruments such as zakat, waqf, and charity are relevant in addressing the poverty gap and helping the country’s socioeconomics. These instruments also have an important impact on improving financial resilience and social well-being through the distribution of wealth and income in society.
Along with the development of digital transactions, the technology applications support the transactions carried out by individuals and organizations more quickly, transparently and efficiently, not least in zakat management. The explosion of this technological phenomenon is also felt by zakat institutions, especially in the use of Blockchain technology.
This Blockchain technology can make a data transaction unbreakable and works as an access gatekeeper for the data to work automatically, especially if using Smart contract methods.
The Smart Contract attached to zakat transactions can guarantee traceability, transparency and confidence in zakat transactions and subsequently is not only able to increase the amount of zakat collection at the state and national level but is also able to increase the effectiveness of distribution to zakat recipients.
The Live Webinar Technology Blockchain Based on Smart Contracts in Ensuring the Effectiveness and Transparency of Zakat Collection will presented by Prof. Associate Dr. Khairil Faizal Khairi and Dr. Azuan Ahmad from the University of Islamic Sciences Malaysia (USIM).
